Bridge Wizard dialog

Allows users to quickly create complete bridge models by entering just a few inputs. Models can then be adjusted or modified using other OBM tools. Found on the Home ribbon tab in the Bridge Setup group.

Tool Settings

SettingDescription
Bridge name Unique name for bridge to be created
Alignment Pick interactively from dgn file or use the option to create a default alignment
Bridge Type Select from list of supported bridge types
Deck Template Select from list. New Templates can be added under Utilities > Libraries
Spans Input span lengths as
  • L1 L2 L3

Or

  • L1 3@L2
Beam Spacing RS S1 S2 … where RS is spacing from deck edge and S1 S2 are beam spacings

Or

NumberOfBeams@S1 -

Example: 5@6.5 will place 5 beams at 6.5 ft spacing. Edge distances will be computed symmetrically based on deck template width.

Beam Template Select from list. New Templates can be added under Utilities > Libraries
Built-Up Beam If Bridge type is Steel girder, input the Web and Flange dimensions. Both top and bottom flanges are assumed to be the same dimensions.
Abutment Template Select from list. New Templates can be added under Utilities > Libraries
Pier Template Select from list. New Templates can be added under Utilities > Libraries
Left Barrier Template Check the box and select from List.
Left Barrier Template Check the box and select from List.
Bridge Start Station Input Bridge Start Station, or if picking alignment, use cursor to click interactively and select station on the picked alignment.

Alignment Advanced Options Specify additional parameters like X, Y, Z , start Tangent direction, radius and hand to generate either straight or circular simple starter alignments.
Custom Deck If this option is selected, specify deck width and deck thickness in master units, rather than selecting a predefined template.
Support Skew Angles Specify SupportLine skew angles for one or more supports.

On the Materials tab, you can specify material properties for various bridge components. The materials come from the Material library, and include both cost and structural properties.
