OpenBridge Modeler

DSTV Analysis Interface dialog

Used to transfer information from a structural analysis program (e.g., Dlubal RFEM and RSTAB) into your model.

Opens when:
  • The key-in ProSteel Interface Analysis is entered.
Note: The structural analysis program is in compliance with the DSTV interface convention Structural Analysis / CAD issued in February 1992.
Tip: For expanded information exchange with products such as Dlubal RSTAB and RFEM, you can also use the ISM tools included in ProStructures.

This interface can read and process data as described here. Please note that the format mentioned previously does not give port definitions. Only the correct shapes can be entered in the defined position.

Note: Structural data can be imported from the analysis program (i.e., static → CAD), but the bidirection workflow is not currently available (i.e., static → CAD → static).
SettingDescription
Import File Type the complete file path of the data record to be read in or click the File button on the right to browse for a file. Data records of any static data end with *.sc2.
Export File This option has not yet been implemented.
Create System Lines When checked, all system lines being defined by the data are created. They are filed in the level PS_RAHMEN.
Connect Shapes When checked, connects the shapes created by analysis import, by inserting all defined shapes. First, no optimizing is made. Collinear shapes of identical type and alignment are not combined. Such shapes are due to the fact that structural analysis is made from one junction point to the next, whereas a shape can stretch over several junction points.
Connect Elements When checked, activates optimizing by connecting elements that are divided by analysis. Shapes of the same type and of same position are combined in a way that a shape has maximum length.
Co Linearity Tolerance Type a length, in mm or feet:inches, to indicate the distance up to which segments can be considered as collinear; and thus suitable for connection.
Angle Tolerance Type an angle value, in degrees, to indicate the turn angle up to which segments can be considered as collinear; and thus suitable for connection.

Dialog Controls

SettingDescription
OK Closes the dialog and save your changes.
Cancel Closes the dialog without saving changes.
Help Opens online help.
Template Saves and retrieve (Using Templates) settings to be used on other projects.
Create Analysis File Creates DSTV analysis file from the selected elements.
Note: This feature is not yet enabled.
Load File Creates model elements from the data read from the selected DSTV analysis file.
Shapes Table Opens the Templates dialog, which is used to match element shapes with unknown designations. You can manage and delete the entered data, or even enter new data.

Since the shape designations used in the different structural analyses are not always identical to those used by OpenBridge Modeler, you will be asked when entering a file with an unknown designation.
