Web Moment Connection - Rat Hole/Stiffener tab

Used to set the rat hole and stiffners consists of web and flange gaps, bevels applied to the flanges and access holes applied to the web.
Note: To enable Rat Hole settings, ensure the Beam Between Moments is unchecked.
SettingDescription
Rat Hole/Stiffener When checked, a Rat Hole/Stiffener is applied end of the connecting member.
  • Web Gap – Sets the gap from the end point of connecting shape to the web.
Note: This distance is in addition to the gap between the connecting and supporting members.
  • Flange Gap (Upper / Lower) – Sets the gap (additional distance) from the end point of connecting shape to the flanges.
  • Upper / Lower Depth – Sets the depth of the bevel applied to the flanges.
  • Upper / Lower Angle – Sets the angle of the bevel applied to the flanges.
  • Invert (Upper / Lower) – When checked, the bevel is inserted on the opposite side of the flange.
  • Chamfer/ Fillet/ Cope (Inserted Arc) – When checked, sets the respective type of cut for the access hole applied to the web.
  • Upper/ Lower Chamher – For Chamfer option, the value equally sets the rise and run of the chamfered access hole applied to the web.
  • Upper/ Lower Radius – For Fillet and Cope options, the value sets the radius of the access hole applied to the web.
  • Upper/ Lower Web Distance – For Cope option, this value allows the access hole to be shifted to the right or left relative to the Web Gap.
Weld Plate
Note: This option is only available when the Moment plates are inline with the flanges or not used at all.
  • Upper / Lower Plate – When checked, sets the upper/lower or both weld plates be placed below the flanges.
  • Length/ Width / Thickness – Sets the length, width and thickness respectively of the weld plates. Enabled when one of the weld plate or both options are set.
Back Stiffeners
  • Top Stiffener / Down Stiffener – When checked, creates a back stiffener for the supporting shape at top or down or both.
  • (Type of cut) – Sets the type of cut for the corners of the Stiffener Plates, selected one among three options: Chamfered / Fileted / Rounded.
  • Stiffener Thickness – Sets the thickness of the Back Stiffener Plate.
  • Stiffener Radius – Sets the type of cut for the corner of the Stiffener Plate.
  • End Offset – Sets the offset from the outer edge of the supporting shape.
  • Flange Offset – Sets the offset from the inside surface of the supporting shape.
  • Web Offset – Sets the offset from the web of the supporting shape.
