Stiffener Connection - Dimensions tab

Used to set stiffener shape dimensions and cutting method.

SettingDescription
Values
  • Gap – Sets the distance between the two selected shapes. A negative value is not permitted.
  • Vertical Offset – Sets the offset distance of the Plate and connecting shape. A negative value is not permitted.

If neither of the following options are checked, the distance is measured from the Plate centerline to the axis center of the connecting shape.

  • From Group – When checked, the vertical offset is measured from the upper edge of the connecting shape to the upper edge of the Plate.
  • Lower Edge – When checked, the vertical offset is measured from the lower edge of the connecting shape to the lower edge/boring of the Plate.
  • Up to First Bolt – When checked, the vertical offset is measured from the upper edge of the connecting shape to the first boring of the Plate.
Cuts
  • Parallel to Cut Plane – When checked, the connecting shape's flange is cut parallel to the edge of the supporting shape. Otherwise, the flange gap is cut perpendicular to the direction of the connecting shape.
  • Top / Bottom Flange Gap – Sets the gap distance between the supporting shape's flange and the connecting shape's flange.
  • Cope – When checked, the connecting shape is coped from the web of the supporting shape by the selected cope template.
    • Cope Template – Enabled for Cope, selectable from templates available in the drop-down list.
  • Normal to Cut Plane – When checked, the connecting bolts are set perpendicular to the supporting shape.
  • Flip – When checked, the Stiffener Plate is placed of the opposite side on the connecting shape.
Group
  • Group – When checked, the entire connection, including the connecting shape, is assigned to a construction group. If the shape is already part of another component group, the connection will be assigned to the same group.
  • With Bolts - When checked, the bolts are also added to that group.
