To create a new abutment template

To create a new abutment template for either a stem wall or pile cap, use the following procedure.

  1. Either:

    On the Utilties ribbon tab, select the Abutments > type in the Libraries group.

    or

    Key in bmlib manage abutment < pilecap | stemwall >

    The Abutment Templates dialog opens.
  2. Click Add New.
    Tip: You can also use the Copy and Edit buttons to use an existing abutment type as a template.
    The Edit Abutment dialog opens with some basic abutment details for the selected abutment type already modeled.
  3. Type an Abutment Name.
  4. Type or select the parameter values for the cap type (stem wall or pile cap).
  5. (Optional) Specify a cheek wall:
    1. In the Cheek Wall field, select Yes. The cheek wall parameters are displayed.
    2. Specify cheek wall dimensions and offsets as necessary.
  6. (Optional) To specify a approach slab notch:
    1. Type a distance into the Back Wall Horizontal Offset field. The Back Wall Vertical Offset field is displayed with the same value as the Back Wall Depth.
    2. Type a value in the Back Wall Vertical Offset field. This value is measured down from the top of the back wall.
  7. (Stem Wall only) Type the footing dimensions.
  8. On the Pile tab:
    1. Select the Pile Type from the drop-down list.
    2. Type the pile dimensions.
    3. To change the pile layout, click the Pile Layout Design tool (). The Pile Layout dialog opens.
    4. Type the margin distances, angles, and number of piles in either direction.
    5. Click Generate.
    6. Click OK.
  9. Click OK.
