Web Moment Connection - Moments tab

Used to set the dimensions, bolting options, and spacing for the upper / lower moments.
Note: The Shim Clearance, and the Bolts and Spacings settings are disabled when the Beam Between Moments is unchecked.
SettingDescription
Thickness Equal to Flange When checked, sets the thickness of the Moments Plates equal to the flange thickness of the connecting member.
Values
  • Thickness – Sets the thickness of the Moment Plate. Enabled when Thickness Equal to Flange is unchecked.
  • Shim Clearance – Sets clearance for the shim. Shim does not appear in the drawing.
  • Web Offset – Sets the offset from the web of the supporting shape.
  • Flange Offset – Sets the offset from the flange of the supporting shape.
Inner Corners
  • Chamfered / Filleted /Rounded – Sets one of the types of cut for the inner corners of the Moment Plates. The inner corners are those nearest to the web of the supporting member.
  • Distance / Radius – Sets the distance relating to the cut. (Radius, in case of Fillet/Round corners). If 0, default values are retrieved from the OpenBridge Modeler database.
Outer Corners
  • Chamfered / Filleted – Sets one of the types of cut for the outer corners of the Moment Plate. The outer corners are those nearest to the flange of the supporting member.
  • Radius / Rise - Run – Sets the distance relating to the cut. (Rise and Run, in case of Fillet corners).
Bolts
  • Bolt Type – Sets the bolt style from the drop-down list.
  • Diameter – Sets the hole diameter of the selected bolt from the drop-down list of bolt diameter table.
  • Workloose – Sets the clearance between bolt and hole diameter.
  • Additional Length – Sets an additional length to the bolts extension outside the nut.
  • Bolt Material – Sets the material to be used for the bolts selected from the drop-down list.
  • Weld – When checked, the shapes are welded, instead of bolting.
Note: When set to Weld, disables the Bolts and Spacing settings.
  • Turn – When checked, the bolt direction is inverted. Available when not welded.
Longitudinal Spacing
  • Number / Slot Length – Sets the number of bolts to be placed on the X axis, and in the second field, sets the slot length.
  • Inner Distance (w1) – Sets the distance from the start of the shape to the center of the first bolt.
  • Inner Distance (w2) – Sets the distance from the end of the shape to the center of the last bolt.
  • Distance Between (w3) – Sets the distance between the center of the bolts.
Note: Enabled for more than one Number of bolts.
Transverse Spacing
  • Number of Bolts – Sets the number of bolts to be placed on the Y axis.
  • Edge Distance (e1) – Sets the distance from the edge of the shape to the center of the first bolt.
  • Distance Between (e2) – Sets the distance between the center of the bolts.
  • Middle Gauge – Sets the distance between the two center bolts. Even number of bolts required.
  • Inverse Stagger (appears when staggered bolts are used) – When checked, inverts the stagger.
