Flange Moment Connection - Upper/Lower Moment tab

Used to set upper and lower moments for the connection.

Settings exclusive to Upper Moment

Setting	Description
Moment Plates	When checked, inserts the Upper and lower Moment Plates into the connection. Enables the Moment settings.
Group	When checked, the entire connection, including the connecting shape, is assigned to a construction group. If the shape is already part of another component group, the connection will be assigned to the same group.
With Bolts	When checked, the bolts are also added to that group.

Settings common to both to Upper and Lower Moment

Setting	Description
Rectangular	When checked, creates a rectangular Moment Plate. The values from the transverse spacing group are used to determine the width.
Start Width	Sets the width of the Moment Plate nearest the supporting member.
End Width	Sets the width of the Moment Plate furthest from the supporting member.
Thickness	Sets the thickness of the Moment Plate.
Shim Clearance	Sets clearance for the shim. Applicable only to Upper Moment Plate. Shim does not appear in the drawing.
Bolts	Bolt Type – Sets the bolt type selected from the drop-down list. Dia./ Workloose – Sets the hole diameter of the selected bolt from the drop-down list of bolt diameter table . The second field sets desired clearance for the bolt connection. Additional Length – Sets the length of the bolt beyond the nut. Turn – When checked, inverts the bolt direction. Weld – When checked, the shapes are welded. Inverse Stagger (appears when staggered bolts are used) – When checked, inverts the stagger.
Longitudinal Spacing	Number/Slot Length – Sets the number of bolts to be placed on the X axis. The second field sets the Sets the slot length. Inner Distance (w1) – Sets the distance from the start of the shape to the center of the first bolt. Inner Distance (w2) – Sets the distance from the end of the shape to the center of the last bolt. Distance Between (w3) – Sets the distance between the center of the bolts.
Transverse Spacing	Number – Sets the number of bolts to be placed on the Y axis. Edge Distance (e1) – Sets the distance from the edge of the shape to the center of the first bolt. Distance Between (e2) – Sets the distance between the center of the bolts. Middle Gauge – Sets the distance between the center of the two middle bolts. Even number of bolts required.
Bevel	When checked, bevels the Moment Plate along the common edge with the supporting shape. Number – Sets the number of bolts to be placed on the Y axis. Depth – Sets the depth of the bevel. Angle – Sets the angle of the bevel. Invert – When checked, inserts the bevel on the opposite side.
