Purlin Beam Stiffener Connection - Dimensions tab

Used to define gusset dimensions and sets the bolting and group options.
SettingDescription
Dimension
  • Gap – Sets the distance from the outside edge of the Support shape to the end of the Connecting shape. Enter a positive value to determine the gap. The default is 8 or 0.35 depending on the units setting.
  • Support Top Offset – Sets the offset between plate and shape flange. This is the distance from inner side of the upper flange of the support shape to outer edge of the stiffener plate. Enter a positive value to determine the offset. A negative value is to be read as its absolute value. The default is 1 or 0.05 depending on the units setting.
  • Connect Top Offset – Sets the offset distance from the outer edge of the connecting shape to the stiffener plate edge. Enter a positive value to determine the offset (refer to the drawing above). A negative value is to be read as its absolute value. The default is 3 or 0.15 depending on the units setting.
  • Thickness – Sets the thickness for the plates. Enter a positive value to determine the thickness. A negative value is to be read as its absolute value. The default is 10 or 0.5 depending on the units setting.
  • Step Offset – Sets the
  • Edge Distance – Sets the distance from the center of the hole to the end of the connecting shape. Enter a positive value to determine the distance . A negative value is to be read as its absolute value. The default is 42 or 1.65 depending on the units setting.
  • End Distance – Sets the distance from the center of the hole to the end of the stiffener plate. Enter a positive value to determine the distance . A negative value is to be read as its absolute value. The default is 29 or 1.15 depending on the units setting.
  • Chamfer X – Sets the chamfer length on the stiffener plate along the horizontal direction. Enter a positive value to determine the length. The default is 10 or 0.5 depending on the units setting.
Tip: To create Chamfer, both X and Y values are required.
  • Chamfer Y – Sets the chamfer length on the stiffener plate along the vertical direction. Enter a positive value to determine the length . The default is 10 or 0.5 depending on the units setting.
  • Support to Top Flange – When checked, connects the plate to the top flange of the support shape. Disables the Support Top Offset field.
  • Support to Down Flange – When checked, connects the plate to the bottom flange of the support shape.
  • From First Hole – When checked, creates the step at the center of the connecting plate. Disables the Align Panel to Connect option.
  • Align Panel to Connect – When checked, connects the plate to the top portion of the connecting (Multibeam) shape. Disables the Connect Top Offset, (and From First Hole setting).
