Shear Plate Connection - Shapes tab

Used to set shape and positioning of the web plate.

SettingDescription
Shape Selection
  • Thickness – Sets the thickness of the web plate, selected from the drop-down list.
    • Selected Shape – Displays the shape corresponding to selected thickness.
  • Cut Plate – When checked, the plate is cut at the connecting shape in case of bevelled shapes to be connected. Disables Rotate flat sheet.
  • Normal to Cut Plane –When checked, the plate is not inserted in shape direction at bevelled connecting shapes but always perpendicular towards the connecting shape.

Normal to Cut Plane off (unchecked)

Normal to Cut Plane on (checked)

  • Use Polyplates – When checked, inserts poly-plates instead of flats.
  • Rotate flat sheet – When checked, the flat steel inserted is rotated by 90º, that leads to change in dimension. If a flat is used, it will be created with the size length x 10 instead of with the size width x 10. (Example: FL 110x10 becomes BRFL 250x10)
Position Selection
  • (side selection) – Sets the web side of the shape to be connected (Left or Right side), which is to be used for attaching the web plate. When Both sides is selected, a plate is attached to both sides of the web.
  • From Edge – When checked, the vertical offset is measured from upper edge shape to upper edge web plate.
  • Lower Edge – When checked, the vertical offset refers to the lower edge of shape and web plate. Enabled when From Edge is set.
  • Up to 1st. Bolt – When checked, the vertical offset doesn’t refer to the edges of the web plate but to the center of the first drill hole. Enabled when From Edge is set.
  • Gap – Sets the distance to be adhered to from the outer edge of the support shape to the outer edge of the shape to be connected.
  • Vertical Offset / Side Offset – Sets the distance of the offset for the web plate from the axis of the shape to be connected towards top or to the right (depending on position). Negative values effect an opposite offset.
