Adding Trimmer Bars to Openings

To add trimmer bars to an existing opening.

Openings are added to existing wall panels.

To add an opening, switch to elevation view, and draw an opening shape on the panel using the smartline tool.

  1. Select (Add Trimmers to Openings).

    The Opening Trimmers dialog opens.

  2. Click (Select Cocrete) and the select a slab in the model.
  3. On the Trim Reinforcing tab:
    1. Select distances for Near, Far, and Side Concrete Cover.
    2. Select the number of opening trimmer bar Levels and, if only one level is used, the Insertion Face for the single level.
    3. (Optional) Set the option for Parallel bars —select a Bar Size, and then type values for the Quantity, Spacing distance, Start Anchor, and End Anchor lengths.
    4. (Optional) Set the option for Corner bars —select a Bar Size, and then type values for the Quantity, Spacing distance, Start Anchor, and End Anchor lengths.
    5. (Optional) Set the option for Perpindicular bars —select a Bar Size, select a Bar Shape, and type a Spacing distance. If U-Bar is selected as the Bar Shape, then type Start Anchor and End Anchor lengths.
    6. Click the Previous or Next Opening buttons to select another opening in the same wall or panel and repeat steps 3a through 3e.
    Opening bars are updated in the model as options are changed.
  4. On the End Conditions tab, select end conditions for Parallel, Corner, and Perpendicular bars as necessary.
  5. (Optional) Set additional Options and Assignments on the corresponding dialog tabs as needed.
  6. Click OK .
