To inverse boolean subtract straight shapes or plates from straight, hollow shape, use the following procedure.

From the Element Modification dialog Common tab, select the Inverse Boolean Subtraction on Hollow Shapes tool (
).

Select a shape or plate.

Select a straight, hollow shape.
The portions of the selected shape or plate
outside of the hollow shape's profile are subtracted.
