Seated Connection – Bottom/Top Seat tab

Used to set the both bottom and top seats for the connection.
SettingDescription
Top/ Bottom/ Both Sets the placement of the Seat. One of the options checked determines how the seat be placed.
Group When checked, the entire connection, including the connecting shape, is assigned to a construction group. If the shape is already part of another component group, the connection will be assigned to the same group.
With Bolts When checked, the bolts are also added to that group.
Gap Sets the distance between the two selected shapes. A negative value is not permitted.
Shim Clearance (For Top Seat) Sets clearance for the shim. Shim does not appear in the drawing.
Shape Type Sets the shape type to be used for the Seat.
Shape Size Sets the shape size to be used for the connection.
Length Sets the length of the Seat.
Center Offset Sets the offset from the center of the connecting shape. Negative offset permitted.
Inverse Leg When checked, the X-Y of the Angle Shape is inverted. Only applicable with Uneven Angles.
Get Defaults When checked, causes default values to be retrieved from the OpenBridge Modeler Database according to the currently selected Shape Type and Size.
Stiffeners
  • Thickness – Sets the thickness of the Stiffener Plates.
  • Run / Rise – Sets the distance relating to the trim of the stiffener.
  • Center Offset – Sets the offset from the center of the connecting shape. Negative offset permitted.
Connecting / Supporting Member Bolts
  • Bolt Type – Sets the bolt style from the drop-down list.
  • Dia./ Workloose – Sets the hole diameter of the selected bolt from the drop-down list of bolt diameter table. In the second field, sets the clearance between bolt and hole diameter.
  • Additional Length – Sets additional length to the bolts extension outside the nut.
  • Turn – When checked, the bolt direction is inverted. Available when not welded.
  • Weld – When checked, the shapes are welded instead of holes drilled.
-
Longitudinal Spacing (For both, Connecting and Supporting Members)
  • Number / Slot Length – Sets the number of bolts to be placed on the X axis, and in the second field, sets the slot length.
  • Inner Distance (g1) – Sets the distance from the start of the shape to the center of the first bolt.
  • Distance Between (g2) – Sets the distance between the center of the bolts.
Transverse Spacing (For both, Connecting and Supporting Members)
  • Number of Bolts – Sets the number of bolts to be placed on the Y axis.
  • Edge Distance (e1) – Sets the distance from the edge of the shape to the center of the first bolt.
  • Distance Between (e2) – Sets the distance between the center of the bolts.
  • Middle Gauge – Sets the distance between the two center bolts. Even number of bolts required.
  • Inverse Stagger (appears when staggered bolts are used) – When checked, inverts the stagger.
