Setting Description
Haunch

Type a Minimum Haunch height. Minimum Haunch Height is measured at the CL of beam (in beam cross section).

Haunch is measured from top of web (typical practice in the US)

For both the left and right haunches of each beam, define the left and right extensions, and the edge type (Chamfered or Normal).

For exterior beams, you can chose the option to "Follow Deck Edge" in which case, the haunch width automatically extended to follow the respective deck edge, to facilitate the modeling of thickened deck edges.

An optional value for Deck Edge Vertical Offset can also be input, so the thickened portion of the deck can be modeled.

Web:
Location Type Choose from SupportLine, Head, Tail or RatioBySpan
Relative Location Enter distance or ratio depending on Location Type
From Select SupportLine or Span
Start Location Computed
End Location Computed
Start Distance Computed
Section Length Computed length of web plate
Top Offset Enter the horizontal distance from centerline of the tub girder to centerline of top flange.
Bottom Offset Enter the horizontal distance from centerline of the tub girder to centerline of bottom flange.
Thickness Enter the thickness of the web plate
Start Height Enter the starting height of the w eb plate (measured vertical).
Variation Select the variation method for the web plate:
  • None - the web plate is constant depth.
  • Linear - the web plate varies linearly from start height to end height.
  • Parabolic Up - the web plate varies parabolically up from start height to end height.
  • Parabolic Down - the web plate varies parabolically down from begin height to end height.
  • Circular Up - the web plate varies circularly up from start height to end height.
  • Circular Down - the web plate varies circularly down from start height to end height.
End Height Enter the end height of the web plate (measured vertical). This field is active only if one of the transition options is selected.
Material Select the material to be used from the drop-down list.

Flanges (Top/Bottom):
Location Type Choose from SupportLine, Head, Tail or RatioBySpan
Relative Location Enter distance or ratio depending on Location Type
From Select SupportLine or Span
Start Location Computed
End Location Computed
Start Distance Computed
Section Length Computed length of Flange
Offset To define an unsymmetric flange location over the web. Only applicable to top flange. Positive offset is to the right, negative to the left
Width Width of each flange (left or right flange)
Thickness Thickness of the flange (left or right flange)
Material Select the material to be used from the drop-down list.
Drawing You can expand or collapse the drawing panel. This shows you an elevation and section view of the current beam's section. If a section is nonprismatic, you can use the slider control to select a point along the section length.
