Connections Resistant to Deflection

Note: Visit OpenBridge Modeler's Bentley Communities for more information on how to create the connections database.
SettingDescription
Tensile, Shear, Moment Here, you enter a maximum load for the connection (in KN) for the corresponding load type. In the list, only the connections suitable for these loads are displayed.
Table columns Meanings of the list entries:
  • Label - Lists the standard designation of the connection
  • Width - Lists the width of the plate (parallel to the flange of the connecting shape).
  • Thickness - Lists the thickness of the plate.
  • Length - Lists the length of the plate (parallel to the web of the connecting shape).
  • Horizontal - Lists the number of drill holes in direction of the plate width.
  • Vertical - Lists the number of drill holes in direction of the plate length.
  • bolt Dia. - Lists the used bolt diameter.
  • Bolt - Lists the used bolt type.
  • Stiffener - Lists the additional stiffeners are required for this connection.
  • Backer Pl. - Lists the additional backer plates are required for this connection.
  • Top Offset - Lists the top offset for this connection.
  • Bottom Offset - Lists the bottom offset for this connection.
  • Af - Lists the thickness of the weld seam at the flange.
  • As - Lists the thickness of the weld seam at the web.
  • Tensile, Shear, Moment - Lists the maximum loading of the connection.

Shear Force Connections

The meaning of the list entries corresponds to those for connections resistant to deflection so that you can refer to this chapter for information.
