Project Extended Profile

Used to show, in an element's profile view, the profiles of adjacent elements.

You can access this tool from the following:

  • Ribbon: Geometry > Vertical > Profile Creation split button

Use the Project Extended Profile tool to show, in an element's profile view, the profiles of adjacent elements. For example, the edges of pavement adjacent to an intersection turning radius are important in the design of the radius profile.

Note: Your workspace must include both a Plan View and a Open Profile Model to employ this tool.
  1. Select the Project Extended Profile between Elements icon.

  2. When you move the cursor into the Plan View, it is equipped with a command prompt that says, "Select Element to Project onto", so move the cursor to the element that connects the two legs then data point, example, left-click.
    • The Project Extended Profile dialog opens.

    • Checking the box next to any of the fields locks in the associated value. When a value is locked, a padlock icon will appear next to it when the prompt for that field appears and entering a value at that point will have no effect.
  3. Use one of the following methods to Locate Back Extended Distance:
    • As you move the cursor, a value is displayed on the prompt. Data point at the desired value.
    • Enter a value and strike the Enter key then data point.
  4. Use one of the following methods to Locate Ahead Extended Distance:
    • As you move the cursor, a value is displayed on the prompt. data point at the desired value.

    • Enter a value and strike the Enter key then data point.

    • In the Profile View, the additions appear with the transition element.

Dialog Customization

Right-click on the Project Extended Profile dialog to customize it for specific tasks or to personal preference.

Properties

To View the new element's properties, equip the Element Selection tool.

Select the desired element in the Profile View then let the cursor hover over it. Click the Properties icon to access rule data for the chosen element.
