Pad Footing Reinforcement - Dowels tab

Used to detail optional dowel that extend from the footing pad into a column.

SettingDescription
Create When checked, adds dowel bars to the pad footing reinforcement.
Column Used to define the column information for the dowel bars.
  • Shape, Length – Displays the current pad footing shape and its length.
  • Tie Clearance – Additional clearance between the column vertical bars and the dowel bars.
  • Vertical Bar Size –Select the bar size (diameter) used for the column vertical bars.
  • Tie Bar Size – Select the tie bar size (diameter) used in the column.
The Select Column prompts Select Pad footing, followed by Select Column when selecting active column in the view. The above values are populated when the column is selected.
Dowels
  • Long / Short Face Qty – Sets the number of bars along each of the column faces.
  • Bar Size – Sets the bar type (diameter) selected from the drop-down list.
  • Embedment – Sets the distance from the top of the footing to the end of the dowel bars into the footing.
  • Extension – Sets the distance from the top of the footing to the end of the dowel bars into the column.
Type The following descriptions apply to all start and end options.
Select the type of end condition for each position:
  • Bend – A hook end.
  • Hook – Two 90° bends, creating a hooked parallel leg.
  • Crank – Offset bar
  • 90 Degree Hook – Same as a Bend, but with the angle set at 90°.
  • 135 Degree Hook – Same as a Bend, but with the angle set at 135°.
  • 135 Degree Seismic Hook – Same as a 135 Degree Hook, but with the lengths specified for seismic detailing.
  • 180 Degree Hook – Same as a Bend, but with the angle set at 180°. Or, a hook with a single bend.
  • Projection – Additional straight length.
  • User – User-entered condition with two bends.
Edit End Condition Values When you select an end condition type, the standard values and angle are applied. If necessary, click Edit End Condition Values to enter custom end condition settings.
Hook Orientation Select the alignment of the hooks where embedded in the footing.
Rotation Type a rotation angle (in degrees). Click to rotate the bar by increments of 90 degrees.
Template Ties Used to keep dowel bars in place. Multiple ties can be added to the template tie table.
  • Bar Size – Sets the tie bar type (diameter) selected from the drop-down list.
  • End Condition Type – Sets the end condition type selected from the drop-down list.
  • Reference Point – Select the reference point of the tie offset: Base of Column or Top of Dowel.
  • Offset – Sets the distance measured from the reference point to the tie of the current template tie.
Adds a new line to the ties table and clears the controls in the editing area allowing a new template tie bar to be entered.
Deletes the current line from the table.
