Fly Brace Connection - Dimensions tab

Used to define gusset dimensions and sets the bolting and group options.
SettingDescription
Gusset Settings
  • Length – Sets the gusset plate dimension in a direction parallel to the cross-sectional X axis of the shape selected. Enter a positive value to determine the length. A negative value or value of 0 is not permitted. The default is 75 or 3 depending on the units setting.
  • Width – Sets the gusset plate dimension in a direction parallel to the cross-sectional Y axis of the shape selected. Enter a positive value to determine the length. A negative value or value of 0 is not permitted. The default is 75 or 3 depending on the units setting.
  • Thikness – Sets the gusset plate thickness. Enter a positive value to determine the thickness. A negative value of value of 0 is not permitted. The default is 10 or 0.5 depending on the units setting.
  • Chamfer – Sets the gusset plate horizontal and vertical chamfer distances. The first field sets plate chamfer in X-direction and the second set it in the Y-Direction. Enter a positive or negative value to determine the horizontal and vertical clearance for the shape's internal fillet. A value of 0 indicates no chamfer. The default is 0.
Options
  • Group – When checked, the selected shape, gusset plates, brace shapes and bolts are arranged to form a group. If the selected shape is already part of an existing group then the created objects are added to that group.
  • With Bolts - When checked, the bolts are also added to that group.
  • Check Flat File – When checked, the option checks the flat file shape table for a shape which matches the specified gusset plate width and thickness and uses a shape in preference to a plate. The shape database checked is controlled by the setting of DEFAULTWIDEFLATFILE in the ProSteel 3D configuration file. Otherwise, a plate is created.
    • Tolerance – Enabled when Check Flat File is set. Sets the tolerance for creation of flat.
Continuous Purlin
  • Longer Side: It creates a connection on the longer side of a purlin.
  • Shorter Side: It creates a connection on the shorter side of a purlin.
  • Both Sides: It creates connection on both side of a continuous purlin.
Note: "Continuous Purlin" group-box is enabled when bracing is placed on 1 purlin and disabled when bracing is placed on 2 purlins.
