Drawings: Dynamic View Settings dialog

Used to specify

Opens when either:
  • the Settings tool is selected from the Drawings group on the Analysis and Reporting ribbon tab, or
  • bmreport settings dynamicviewsettingscommand is keyed in.
Auto Dimensions Check this option to generate dimensions automatically for the drawing elements. Opens the Auto Dimensions controls group
Clip Check this option to Clip Columns and Piles to fit drawing sheet, rather than drawing them full length. Opens the Clip controls group.
Auto Fit Check this option to center and fit drawing into sheet. This may create a custom scale. Opens the Auto Fit controls group.
Hidden Style Name Type the style name used for hidden lines. Selected objects behind primary objects will be shown using this style. (e.g., Columns in the top view of the cap)
Dimension Style Name Type the dimension style name to be used for all dimensions.
Title Text Style Name Type in title style name to be used for all titles.
Drawing Seed Model Type the name of the drawing seed model to show by default in the Create Drawing dialog when the Create Drawing tool is selected.
Pier Reference Copies OpenBridge Modeler uses the folded reference views concept to generate the various views from the Dynamic View. While the front elevation view is always included, you can select any other view you want in the drawing:
  • Top
  • Right
  • Bottom
  • Left
Auto Dimensions
Offset The distance away from object at which the dimensions are placed.
Parallel Plane Check this option if you only want to see dimensions for objects surfaces parallel to the cutting plane. Any projected dimensions for sloped elements will be skipped.
Associated Points

Check this option if you want the dimensions in 2D drawings to update to changes in the 3D model.

An "association point" in a dimension element is one that is associated with a point in the dimensioned element(s). Association points are most useful for points that are "connected" to the element being dimensioned, such as dimension endpoints.

Style Select one of the following:
  • All Sides - Dimensions are done on all sides of all objects
  • Ignore Duplicate - Select this style if to ignore all duplicate dimensions. For example if the top and bottom width of the column are the same, they will not be dimensioned.
  • Align By Side - The dimensions are aligned on the selected sides.
Unique By Type This option is only available if Ignore Duplicate is selected. If it is selected, automatic dimensioning is done for all elements individually. For example, if a pier cap shares the same width as a column width in the side view, both widths will be dimensioned.
Align (Align By Side only) Chose from Align Side, Top and Left, Bottom and Left, Top and Right, Bottom, and Right.
Hidden Projections (Align By Side only) Dimensions all objects even if they are hidden by other objects.
Levels Default Levels that are used for placing the various dimensioning. Could be by object or by side, depending on setting in Style.
Cut Can be input as a percent of length of element (column or pile) or by a Fixed Length. Since the cut is always at midpoint, this value should be input as the length of the column to be drawn above and below the gap.
Cut Gap The length of the spacing(gap) between the upper cut and the lower cut of the column or pile.
Columns Select this option to clip columns.
Piles/Drill Shafts Select this option to clip piles or drilled shafts under columns.
Auto Fit
Horizontal 50 is horizontally centered. Input a value between 0 and 100 to move drawings in sheet to left and right respectively.
Vertical 50 is vertically centered. Input a value between 0 and 100 to move drawings in sheet up and down respectively.
Enable Reference Scaling (Fit) Check this option if you want to adjust the drawings to fit the sheet border in the ratio specified in the size % field.
Size Input the percent by which the drawings are scaled to fit the sheet border.
