Setting Up Project Standards
Setting up of project standards is usually a Project Administrator's task, which involves the following:
- Setting up seed files and seed models - When you create a DGN file, you identify a seed file as a template for the DGN file. The new DGN file is actually a copy of the seed file.
- Configuring DGN libraries - A DGN library, sometimes referred to as a DGNLib, contains data that is shared throughout files and among users. While setting up project standards, you may do the following in DGNLibs:
- Customize the drawing seed files
- If you want to process a drawing a 3D design model referenced into a drawing model or sheet model as a cached visible edge reference, then set the same in the respective drawing seed
- Set up the sheet index
- Organize project link sets, which include the following:
- Create link sets
- Create links in Explorer
- Set up configuration variable links to automatically harvest content within folders
- Create drawing boundaries
- Define the display styles and set up display rules
- Define detailing symbols styles, text styles, dimension styles, multiline styles, custom line styles, element templates, and item types
- Define labels and text favorites
- Define the level structure
- Create templates for patterning of section elements
- Create templates for tables and reports
Note: It is recommended that you should not modify the DGNLibs delivered with the product. If you want to make changes, you should copy the delivered DGNLib to another location, usually to the
..\Configuration\Organization\Dgnlib\
folder and then modify the DGNLib.
