Import STEP AP203/AP214 File Dialog

Used to change a log filename or directory, and also to change import settings.

You can access this dialog from the following:
  • Ribbon: select File > Import > Exchange File Types > STEP (*.stp) , select a file to import, and click Open

File menu > Log File Opens the Log File dialog, which is used to change a log filename or directory. When you import a .stp file, MicroStation PowerDraft creates a log file and assigns it a .log extension. The log file has the same name and directory as your data (.stp) file.
Settings menu > Import Settings Opens the AP203/AP214 Import Settings dialog, which is used to change import settings.
Input File The Input File group box displays the following criteria:
  • File — Name of the file to be translated.
  • Log file — The log filename. The log file is created only if Enable Logging is on. By default, logging is on.
  • Schema — The schema name which defines the STEP application protocol used to create the data file. CONFIG_CONTROL_DESIGN is displayed if STEP AP203 was used to create the file to be imported. AUTOMOTIVE_DESIGN is displayed if STEP AP214 was used to create the file to be imported.
  • Created by — The name of the person who created the file. This is extracted from the STEP file.
  • Created on — The system on which the file was created. This is extracted from the STEP file.
Status The Status group box displays any translator messages that occur during the translation process.
