Save Image Dialog

Used to save the contents of a rendered or wireframe view to a file.

You can access this dialog from the following:
  • Ribbon: Drawing > Utilities > Image > Save Image
  • Toolbox: Render
Key-in: DIALOG SAVEIMAGE

SettingDescription
View Sets the source view.
Format Sets the image file format. The available formats are: Cals Type 1 CCITT4 (CALS), Img, Image RGB, CIT, COT, RGB, RLE, JPEG (the default), PCX, Apple PICT (PICT), Portable Network Graphics (PNG), PostScript, Sun Raster (RAS), Targa (TGA), Tag Image File Format (TIFF), Windows BMP, WordPerfect (WPG), Extended TIFF (EPX), and Adobe Photoshop (PSD).
Compression Sets the degree of compression for an image file format. For example, compression options for a JPEG format image file are from Minimum Loss to High Loss. Greater compression is achieved as image quality is sacrificed: Minimum Loss yields the highest image quality and least compression; High Loss yields the lowest image quality and the greatest compression.
Note: The design file's color table is controlled in the Color Table dialog.
Mode Sets the number of colors in the image file's color palette. The available options depend upon which Format is chosen. For example, Intergraph RGB supports only 24-bit color, while PICT supports 24-bit color, 256 colors, and grayscale.
Shading Sets the rendering mode:
  • From View
  • Wireframe
  • Visible Edge
  • Filled Visible Edge
  • Smooth
Gamma Correction Sets the brightness of the image in the file. The default value is 1; the valid range is 0.1 to 3.0. Increasing the Gamma Correction setting lightens the image; decreasing it darkens the image.
Ignore Lines And Text If on, restricts rendering processes to only those elements that include an area component: surfaces and all closed elements such as shapes, ellipses, and complex shapes. Conversely, all open elements, such as lines, arcs, text, and points, are not rendered (and therefore not displayed in rendered images).
Antialiasing Quality Option menu that lets you set the number of Samples taken during antialiasing calculations.
  • None — Turns off Antialiasing.
  • Low — Grid size of 2, the image is rendered 4 times (2x2 grid) with offset such that every pixel is sampled 4 times for Antialiasing.
  • Medium — Grid size of 3, image is rendered 9 times (3x3 grid) with offset such that every pixel is sampled 9 times for Antialiasing.
  • High — Grid size of 4, image is rendered 16 times (4x4 grid) with offset such that every pixel is sampled 16 times for Antialiasing.
  • Very High — Grid Size of 5, image is rendered 25 times (5x5 grid) with offset such that every pixel is sampled 25 times for Antialiasing.
Custom (Antialias set to Custom only) Lets you enter a value other than the above predefined values.
Stereo Renders a view with a stereo effect (form the drop-down options). Used for viewing with special red/blue filtered glasses.
Separation (mm) Sets the measured offset between the two rendered images. Default is 65 millimeters.
Convergence Distance Sets the point within 3D space where the two offset images converge. In front of this point, objects appear to come forward and behind the point, objects appear to recede.
Lock To Focal Length If on (default), locks the convergence distance to the focal length.
Pixels If on, image size is defined in pixels along the X and Y axes.
Page Size If on, image size is defined in physical dimensions for width (W) and height (H). Units for the dimensions (in, mm, or cm) are chosen from the option menu to the right of the width (W) field.
Aspect If on, the aspect ratio of the selected view is maintained.

That is, when Pixels is selected and you set the X or Y resolution, the remaining setting automatically is adjusted to match the view aspect ratio. Similarly, when Page Size is selected and you set the W or H dimension, the remaining setting automatically is adjusted to match the view aspect ratio.

DPI Lets you define a dots per inch (DPI) value for your image.
Note: Changing the DPI value affects the physical dimensions of the image.
Render Image in Tiles If on, enables the tiled rendering process which breaks up the target rendering subject into a series of user-defined tiles.
Note: Tiled rendering only works with true color (24-bit) or RGB Alpha and only when rendering a display style.
Continue Lets you render on more than one computer platform or continue an aborted, tiled rendering. For example, you can start rendering on one computer, and then access the same file from another computer and continue the tiled rendering, making sure that the tiles are saved in the same directory.
Save Opens the Save Image As dialog, which is used to save the image file.
Note: The controls are analogous to those in the Save As dialog.
