To Update Placeholder Fields for a 3D Design Model Referenced in a Sheet Model

  1. Create a 3D design model and draw an object in it.
  2. Create a sheet model.
  3. Attach the front view of design model as a reference in the sheet model.
  4. Select the Place Section Callout tool.
  5. In the Place Section Callout tool settings window set the detailing symbol style to Default, turn on the Create Drawing check box and create a section callout on the reference that you have just placed.
  6. In the Create Drawing dialog, turn off the Create Drawing Model and Create Sheet Model check boxes and click OK.
  7. Right-click the section callout and select Place Drawing from the pop-up menu.

    The Reference Attachment Properties dialog opens.

  8. In the Reference Attachment Properties dialog, select New from the Drawing Boundaries drop-down list and click OK.
  9. Enter a data point to place the reference.

    A drawing boundary is created under the reference. The fields of the drawing boundary and section callout are updated immediately.

  10. Right-click the drawing boundary and select Properties from the pop-up menu.

    The Properties dialog opens.

  11. On the General tab, change the Identifier field value.

    The Drawing Identifier field value changes.

  12. Click the Update All Fields tool (Drawing > Annotate > Text > More split button).

    The Drawing Identifier field in the section callout updates.
