Setting the Workmode to DWG

When you are working in a DGN file, the default workmode is DGN. You can also manually set the workmode to DWG.

To change the workmode, define the workmode configuration variable MS_WORKMODE.

This configuration variable can be set at the user, WorkSet, WorkSpace, or Organization level.

While DWG workmode is enabled, a DWG icon displays in the status bar.

Setting the Workmode at User Level

You can change the workmode at the User level. User-level configuration variable settings take precedence over all other level settings.

Setting the Workmode at WorkSpace or WorkSet Level

Although you can set the workmode in each user configuration file, it may be more efficient to set the variable at the WorkSpace or WorkSet levels. With this, files only in a particular WorkSpace or WorkSet will be opened in DWG workmode.

To set the DWG workmode at WorkSpace level, open the <WorkpSaceName>.cfg Configuration File of the particular WorkSpace in a text editor and add the following line to the Configuration File:

MS_WORKMODE=DWG

To set the DWG workmode at WorkSet level, open the <WorkSetName>.cfg Configuration File of the particular WorkSet in a text editor and add the following line to the Configuration File:

MS_WORKMODE=DWG

Setting the DWG Workmode at Organization Level

If you want to set the DWG workmode at an organization level, such that all the current as well as future WorkSpaces and WorkSets use the same workmode, you can do so by setting the workmode in the organization level configuration file. By default, the Organization level configuration file is the standards.cfg file stored in the delivered Configuration\Organization directory.

To set the DWG workmode at Organization level, open the standards.cfg Configuration File in a text editor and add the following line to the Configuration File:

MS_WORKMODE=DWG
