Specifying Paper Properties

Using the Paper controls on the Main tab, you can change the paper size and orientation of the printed output. You can also specify whether or not you want to use the full limits of the paper.

Most of the Bentley printer driver configuration files support ISO, ANSI, and Arch paper sizes. For non-Windows printers, the paper sizes defined on the Paper Sizes tab in the Printer Driver Configuration dialog will be listed in the Paper Size control on the Main tab.

For the Bentley Windows printer driver, the complete list of paper sizes supported for the selected Windows printer is obtained from the operating system at the time the printer is selected. You can override this behavior by defining paper sizes on the Paper Sizes tab in the Printer Driver Configuration dialog. The Paper Sizes tab for the Bentley Windows printer driver allows you to filter out the paper sizes from the operating system. Paper sizes defined on the Paper Sizes tab will be the only paper sizes listed on the Paper size control.

Sometimes you may need to reverse the X and Y values of the Paper Size property without having to edit the printer driver configuration file. You can do this by changing the Orientation. You can set the Orientation in a print style to Portrait or Landscape.

The Full sheet control allows you to use the full limits of the paper versus the printable area. For example, when printing to a letter size sheet, typically 8.5 x 11 inches, the maximum print size may be only 8.167 x 10.6 inches. If Full sheet is enabled, the maximum print size is the size of the sheet (8.5 x 11 inches). When Full Sheet is enabled some geometry may be clipped (by the printer) if it falls into the unprintable area around the edge of the paper.
