Blend Curve

Used to construct a B-spline curve between two elements (lines, line strings, arcs, ellipses, complex chains, complex shapes, or B-spline curves) that consists of the trimmed original elements and a transition curve connecting them.

You can access this tool from the following:

  • Ribbon: Modeling > Curves > Modify Curves
  • Toolbox: Modify Curves

Initially, the blend curve is created from the endpoints of the elements. The end chosen is that nearest the selection point for the element. Prior to accepting, you can move the blend points along the elements.

SettingDescription
Start Continuity Sets the number of control points for the first element selected. Prior to accepting, you can adjust the location of the blend point and control the effect of curvature and tangency.
  • Position — No control points. The blend is constructed from the blend point.
  • Tangent — One control point, which lets you adjust the magnitude of the blend curve's initial tangent.
  • Curvature — Two control points, which let you adjust the effect of initial curvature on the blend.
End continuity Sets the number of control points for the second element selected. Prior to accepting, you can adjust the location of the blend point and control the effect of curvature and tangency.
  • Position — No control points. The blend is constructed to the blend point.
  • Tangent — One control point, which lets you adjust the magnitude of the blend curve's final tangent.
  • Curvature — Two control points, which let you adjust the effect of final curvature on the blend.
Trim Originals If on, the original elements are trimmed to the blend point.
Join Results If on, the result is a single B-spline curve.
