Exporting an Esri SHP File Key-ins

The multiple key-ins associated with the Export to Shape files are as given below:
Key-in: EXPORT SHPFILE
  • To start the export tool.
Key-in: EXPORT SHPFILE FACETCURVE [ OFF| ON| TOGGLE]
  • The value is saved in the user preference.
  • If on, the element not exclusively composed of line strings (that include curve, ellipse, b-spline, and arc) will be facetted to make them compatible with SHP file standards. The tool used is Facet Curve with the method Max. Chord Height.
  • If not specified, by default the value is On.
Key-in: EXPORT SHPFILE FACETHEIGHT <Height Value>
  • The value is saved in the user preference.
  • This is to set the height used by the Facet Curve tool.
  • If not specified, by default the value 0.0 is used.
Key-in: EXPORT SHPFILE KEEP3D [ OFF| ON| TOGGLE]
  • The value is saved in the user preference.
  • This option is useful only when the active model is 3. If off, the output SHP file is created as 2D and only the X/Y coordinates are exported.
  • If not specified, by default the value is On, keep 3D values.
Key-in: EXPORT SHPFILE SHPSTRING [ OFF| ON| TOGGLE]
  • The value is saved in the user preference.
  • This option is useful only when text elements are exported. In GIS, text elements do not exist, Text elements are exported as points. If ON, one more property is created in the output SHP file and this property will be named BSI_STR. The export will save the text string in this property field.
  • If not specified, by default the value is On.
