Display Style Render Modes and Options

In addition to a render mode (Display drop-down) — Wireframe, Visible Edges, Filled Visible Edges, or Shaded — a display style also specifies optional settings and overrides.

  • Hidden Line and Filled Hidden Line display styles can optionally display hidden edges in any of the standard line styles.
  • Shaded display styles can optionally display visible edges in a specified color or line weight, hidden edges in any of the standard line styles, and shadows.
Note: When the render mode in the Display Styles dialog is set to Shaded, it is affected by the Ignore Open Elements And Text check box setting in the Untitled render setup in the Render Setup Manager dialog. For example, if Ignore Open Elements And Text is ON in the Untitled Render Setup, then when a Shaded display style is applied, the open elements and text are not displayed.

Overrides specify aspects of view and element display that take precedence over element and ByLevel attributes. These overrides are applicable for all modes:

  • transparency
  • background color
  • element color
  • line style
  • line weight

Only display styles that used the Shaded render mode can additionally specify an override for materials.
