Associative Extraction

Used to extract faces and edges from a Parametric or Smart solid. The extracted faces and edges will maintain their association with the parent parametric solids.
Note: After extraction of a face or an edge from a Smart solid, the solid gets converted to a Parametric solid.
You can access this tool from the following:
  • Ribbon: Modeling > Solids > Solid Utilities > Associative Extraction
SettingDescription
Faces
If selected, allows you to extract one or more faces from the parametric or smart solid.
Edge
If selected, allows you to extract one or more edges from the parametric or smart solid.
Move New Face / Edge If on, allows you to move the extracted face or edge.
Keep Associated If on, the association with the solid is maintained, such that in case you modify the solid, the extracted face or edge is also modified accordingly.
Face Offset Allows you to place the face or edge at the set offset distance from the solid. You can enter negative offset values. You can also assign a variable to this setting by clicking the Variable icon next to the text field.
Allows you to create and assign new or existing variables and/or expressions to the offset value. Clicking this icon displays the following:

You can select New Variable and type in a name and value in the text box to create a variable. You can select New Expression to launch the Expression Builder dialog and create an expression to use.
Delete with Parent If on, the extracted edge/face gets deleted if the parent solid is deleted. If off, only the parent solid is deleted and the extracted edge remains.
Level If on, allows you to choose a level for the extracted edge/face.
Color If on, allows you to choose a color for the extracted face/edge.
Weight If on, allows you to choose a line weight for the extracted face/edge.
Style If on, allows you to choose a line style for the extracted face/edge.
Class If on, allows you to choose a class for the extracted face/edge.
