Edit Font Map Dialog

Used to edit and add font maps to a printer driver configuration (.pltcfg) file. It is available only for the Windows and PostScript printer driver configuration files.

Opens when the Define maps from design fonts to hardware (or Windows TrueType) fonts check box is selected and you select a font map and click Edit or Add on the Font Maps tab in the Printer Driver Configuration dialog.

SettingDescription
Use Windows GDI for all TrueType fonts For the Windows printer driver configuration file (printer.pltcfg), this is the recommended way to pass true text through the Windows printing system. Fonts are printed as defined in the DGN file, with no mapping to printer fonts. However, you can expect some change in the printed text's appearance.

If selected, the input Design Font and output Print font name controls are disabled.

Design Font Used to map an input design font to an output print font. The input design font can be specified by font name, by font number, or by selecting fonts of a certain type.
  • Design font name — You must specify the input design font name precisely. You cannot use wildcard characters or other pattern recognition methods.
  • Design font number(s) — You can enter a value from 0 to 255.
  • All MicroStation resource fonts
  • All SHX fonts
  • All TrueType fonts
Print font name You must specify the output print font name precisely. You cannot use wildcard characters or other pattern recognition methods.
Define print kerning Used to adjust inter-character spacing in the output print font. The Print Kerning setting only works for the pscript.pltcfg printer driver file.
Define print size ratio Used to compensate for size differences between the input design font and the output print font.
