Mesh Audit

Used to check and identify voids, overlapping facets, and inconsistent normals. It is also used to report a volume if the mesh is a closed volume, calculate the upper and lower X,Y,Z points, and display the overall dimension of the mesh.

You can access this tool from the following:

  • Ribbon: Modeling > Mesh > Mesh Utilities
  • Toolbox: Mesh Utilities

SettingDescription
Voids Displays the number of voids in the mesh element. If Display is on, a yellow boundary on the mesh element indicates the voids. You can use the Close Mesh Voids tool to close voids in the mesh element. If Display is off, the yellow boundary will not appear.
Overlapping Facets Displays the number of overlapping facets. If Display is on, a yellow boundary on the mesh element indicates the overlapping area. If the Display is off, the yellow boundary will not appear.
Inconsistent Normal Displays the number of facets that have an inconsistent normal direction for the mesh element. If Display is on, a yellow boundary on the mesh element indicates the facets that are inconsistent. If Display is off, the yellow boundary will not appear.
Mesh Volume If there are no voids and the Inconsistent Normal does not report Yes, a volume is reported in master units.
Upper Point: X, Y, Z Reports the global coordinates of the uppermost facet of the mesh.
Lower Point: X, Y, Z Reports the global coordinates of the lowermost facet of the mesh.
Dimension: X, Y, Z Displays the overall dimensions of a mesh element in master units.
