To Create a Surface by Revolution

  1. Select the Surface by Revolution tool ( Modeling > Surfaces > Create Surfaces > Revolve Surface > Revolve ).

  2. To create a parametric surface, turn on Parametric.
Note: Creating a parametric surface is the ideal thing to do, as it will let you edit it easily without the need to be manually rebuilt.
  3. (Optional) In the Angle field, type the required value or use Variable link to set it from the available variables in the Variables dialog.
  4. (Optional) In the Thickness setting set the desired value. (Parametric has to be turned on to enable Thickness)
  5. Select the profile element.
  6. Enter a data point. Use AccuDraw to ensure the axis of revolution is defined at the exact location desired.

If Axis is set to Points, this data point defines one point on the axis of revolution. Otherwise, this data point defines the axis of revolution.

  7. If Axis is set to Points, enter a second data point to define another point on the axis of revolution.

Surface created by revolution, Angle = 180, Axis = Drawing Z, Thickness = 2, Inside.

Note: For creating a surface by revolution, the spin axis should not intersect on any point of the profile other than end vertices of the edge, as shown below.
