Creating Print Styles
The Print Styles dialog is used to create and manage print styles. Print styles can be used by anyone with access to the DGN file or DGN library.
The Print Styles toolbar contains icons to create, save, copy, delete, and designate a print style as a default print style.
When you create a new print style or make a modification to an existing print style, the system will display the print style name in blue until you save the print style. Also, if you try to exit the Print Styles dialog with unsaved print styles, you will be presented with the Unsaved Print Styles dialog to allow you to save unsaved print styles.
To designate a print style as a default print style, select the print style and click the Default Print Style icon located on the toolbar. Default print styles are applied when you create new print definitions.
Sometimes you may want to export print styles from one DGN file and import them into another DGN file. The File menu on the Print Styles dialog contains items for importing and exporting print styles.
Print Styles consist of settings that apply to an entire print set (Common Settings) and settings that apply to individual print definitions within the print set (Print Level Settings).
Common Settings
Common settings apply to all print definitions in the print set. Common settings include a printer driver configuration file and a Windows printer name. These settings are stored as a separate section (Common section) in the print style.
Print Level Settings
Unlike common settings that apply to all print definitions in the print set, print level settings apply to individual print definitions of a specific data type within the print set. For example, you might specify an x-size of 34 inches for all DGN/DWG data, and a rotation of 90 degrees for all raster data.

You can create a single print style containing a common settings section and a section for each data type, or you can create multiple prints styles, each consisting of a different settings type. Although, it may be beneficial to create multiple print styles, each with a different common settings section. For example, you can create print styles for various printers to produce half-size and full-size prints.
