SettingDescription
Master Unit Definition

Contains controls for selecting a Standard Unit or defining a Custom Unit to be your design Master Unit.

Use Standard Unit If selected, the standard Master Unit settings are used. Metric or English units of measurement are recognized.
  • Unit — This option menu lets you define the largest measuring unit (Master Unit). If changed, the Master Unit field in the Working Units category on the Design File Settings dialog also changes.
  • Label — Lets you set the standard abbreviation for the measuring unit selected in the Unit field. For example, if Unit is Yards then the default Label is yd. If changed, the Label field in the Working Units category on the Design File Settings dialog also changes.
Define Custom Unit If selected, you can create a custom Master Unit, which is defined relative to one of the recognized Metric or English units. That is, you define how many custom units is equivalent to a known measurement in one of the recognized units of the Metric or English systems.
  • How Many (custom units) — Lets you set the number of custom units (of the unit of measurement in the Label field) that is a Master Unit.
  • Label — Lets you define the label for the largest unit of measurement that you most often use that is not in the standard Master Unit list. For example, if you use nautical miles as your unit of measurement, you could put NMiles as your label. If you change the unit of measurement, the Master Unit field on the Working Units category of the Design File Settings dialog automatically changes to Custom MU and the Label changes to match the changed unit of measurement.
  • How Many (standard units) — Sets the number of Standard Units (English or Metric) that is equal to the Custom Unit.
  • Unit — Lets you define the standard unit of measurement that equates to the custom units you have established. For example, if you had made 1 nautical mile as your custom Master Unit, you can equate this to the correct value of Standard Unit measurements such as Miles.
Sub Unit Definition Contains controls for selecting a Standard Unit or defining a Custom Unit to be your design Sub Unit.
