Introduction to Print Organizer

When DGN, DWG, raster, and PDF files are added to Print Organizer they are stored in print set (.pset) files that can be printed or re-printed in a single step. The individual files and models within a print set file are referred to as print definitions and they can be hierarchically grouped in folders and sub-folders as shown below.

Print Organizer's main dialog

Each print definition consists of a reference to a file to be published, along with properties, such as size, scale, and form name that determine how the file will be published within the print set. Print Organizer supports two types of print definitions: fixed print definitions and variable print definitions. For more information on fixed and variable print definitions, see Types of Print Definitions .

Using Print Organizer, you can:

  • Print or reprint entire print sets in a single step.
  • Preview the print set anytime during the project life-cycle.
  • Specify model selection and fence creation methods.
  • Use pen tables or design scripts, or both, to resymbolize elements.
  • Apply default print definition property values using a print style.
  • Select either a Bentley printer driver to print to a file or a Windows printer driver to print to a physical device.
  • Set print definition properties per item. (e.g. by specifying different pen tables in the same print set).
  • Use named expressions for print definition and output file names.
  • Access files that reside in a ProjectWise managed environment to compose print sets.
  • Submit prints to ProjectWise InterPlot Server.
