Union Feature

Used to unite two or more solids into a single parametric solid. Solids may be selected individually, or you can use the Element Selection tool. Where more than two solids are to be united, and you are selecting the solids individually, you may perform additional Boolean unions in a single operation. That is, after selecting the first solid, you then can select further solids to unite them into a single parametric solid. Alternatively, you can use the Element Selection tool to select the solids to be united, prior to selecting the Union Feature tool.

SettingDescription
Keep Original Lets you define whether any of the original solids are retained in the model.
  • None — None of the original solids are kept in the model.
  • All — All of the original solids are kept in the model.
  • First — Only the first solid selected is kept in the model.
  • Last — Only the last solid selected is kept in the model.
Tip: You can construct a union from solids that do not touch, or overlap, each other. If you later modify the dimension such that the “separate” solids intersect, they will be united as a single solid.

Left: Two separate solids that have been united. | Right: If their dimensions later are modified so they intersect, they become a single object.
