To Define a Fence Filter and Enable Fence Filter Selection

Do one of the following:

In the Command Window, key in: DEFINE SEARCH <SQL_SELECT_statement>

or

DS=<SQL_SELECT_statement>

The specified SELECT statement is stored in the fence filter column of the row for the specified table in MSCATALOG.

Note: Updating the fence filter row in MSCATALOG manually with a SQL statement works, but it is strongly discouraged. The DEFINE SEARCH or DS= commands both modify this column, but they also turn on or off the filtering operation.
