Defining Geographic Location

In order to accurately define the geographic location of a model, when exporting to Google Earth, you must provide both the model's location and its orientation. There are two ways to do this:

  1. Use the MicroStation Geographic tools to define a geographic coordinate system (GCS) for the model.
  2. If you do not have a GCS defined and there are no placemark monuments in the model, the location of the model’s origin is derived from the latitude and longitude settings for Solar Lighting in the Light Manager dialog.
Note: You can define North interactively from the Solar Lighting section of the Light Manager dialog (Visualization > Home > Lighting dialog launcher).
