The Bentley Image (BIMG) is a floating point image that can contain several output layers, for instance, an Ambient Occlusion render can be saved with Color & Alpha in the file format. These floating point BIMG files contain more information than can be displayed and so they must be tone mapped prior to being saved to a 24 bit color format, such as .TIF or .BMP.
