Specifying Resymbolization Properties

Resymbolization is the process of changing characteristics of elements within a DGN file. When these changes are applied to printed output, the process is referred to as print resymbolization. Pen tables and design scripts let you remap any of the characteristics associated with DGN file elements for the printed output.

In summary, a pen table or design script lets you:

  • Selectively alter the printed appearance of elements
  • Determine the printing order of elements
  • Specify text string substitutions

The Clear pen table and Clear design script check boxes enable you to clear the pen table or design script property in a print definition. For example, suppose you have a print set containing several print definitions and each print definition has a pen table assigned to it. If you do not want Print Organizer to process the pen table when you create printed output, you can define a print style that sets the Clear pen table check box. Applying this print style to the print set clears the associated pen table for each print definition.
