To Draw an Edge Line on a Face of a Solid (Edge to Edge Off)

  1. Select the Draw on Solid tool.
  2. Select the Draw Line icon.
  3. Turn off Edge to Edge.
  4. Select the solid with a tentative snap (left right button chord) on an edge.
  5. With the solid is tentatively selected, move the mouse slightly to select the face to draw on.

Left: Move the pointer behind the solid until the back face is highlighted.Right: Move the pointer in front of the solid until the top face is highlighted.

  6. Click the data button to select the face.

The AccuDraw Compass is automatically reoriented coplanar to the selected face.

Note: The Draw on Solid tool's AccuDraw dynamics described in this procedure (draw lines) are the same for drawing rectangles and circles on solids.
  7. Enter a data point on the required face of the solid to define the first point of the line.
  8. Enter a second data point to define the second point. If necessary, the line is extended to intersect with existing edges of the face.

Left: Enter two data points to define the line.Right: The line is extended to the edges of the face.

Modify Solid Entity tool can be used to modify the line (left) or the faces (right) created by the line.

Tip: Turn on Edge to Edge to start drawing the line on the first data point click. This eliminates steps in the procedure, but the first data point must be selected carefully for accuracy.
