To Extrude a Solid Along a Path

  1. Select the Solid by Extrusion Along tool.
  2. If necessary, turn off Circle.
  3. Select the path element.
  4. Select the profile element.
  5. Accept to complete the extrusion.

Note that the profile is at the end point of the curve. This tool does not require the profile and the path to be at a common point to work. It will not move the profile to the path but will make the solid at the location of the profile.

The direction of the handle can be changed by clicking the red arrow. The location used to do the trace can be moved by clicking and dragging the rotation ball at the end of the handle. In this view the trace curve was moved to the bottom right of the pentagon. If Alignment is set to Normal then a difference will be seen.

The extrusion was made without any additional options.

The Scale option was selected and set to 0.50 so the ending profile is half the size of the beginning. When the Scale option is selected you must select a point about which to scale. If you want to scale about the point where the trace curve ends, then you would snap to the end of the trace curve.

In this example the spin angle was set to -75 degrees. The spin will be about the trace curve.
