Function Keys Dialog

Used to create keyboard function key menus and to modify current function key menus. A function key menu is a file that contains keyboard function key definitions — assignments of actions to function keys. The title bar of the Function Keys dialog identifies the open function key menu.

You can access this dialog from the following:
  • Ribbon: File > Settings > User > Function Keys

Key-in: SET FUNCTION
Note: The function key menu used by default is named funckey.mnu.

Open Function Key Menu
Opens the Select Function Key Menu dialog, which is used to open a function key menu.
Save As Function Key Menu
Opens the Save Function Key Menu As dialog, which is used to name and save the open function key menu.
Help
Opens the help topic of the dialog.
Function Keys Contains controls that are used to modify or create a function key definition. Includes the keys you can use for a function key definition: the <Ctrl>, <Alt>, and <Shift> keys, and the <F1> through <F12> function keys.
Ctrl Turn on this check box to include the <Ctrl> key in a function key definition.
Alt Turn on this check box to include the <Alt> key in a function key definition.
Shift Turn on this check box to include the <Shift> key in a function key definition.
Function Key Drop-Down List Allows you to select the function key to change, or for which to create a definition.
Key Lists the function keys chosen in the Function Keys group box above or selected from the list box below.
Action Shows the action string, if one is defined, of the function key definition identified by the selected keys.
List box Lists the currently defined function key definitions and their actions. You can click any list box entry to select a currently defined function key definition for editing. You also can select a function key definition to change or create a definition by pressing the desired combination of function keys. See the list of system default function key definitions.
Save Saves changes to function key definitions and closes the dialog. The changes are saved to the open function key menu.
Close Negates any changes made to function key definitions and closes the dialog.
Note: If the definitions were not saved, an alert box opens. If you do not save the definitions, they will remain in effect only for the remainder of the session.
