Work Sharing
ConstructSim Planner is based on work sharing using a VCM Server. Work sharing consists of updating the model from the server and then after making changes, committing those edits to the VCM Server.
The VCM is organized into a number of overlapping, functional groups that can be modified and edited as units. VCM data includes:
-
Component Layout
-
User Defined Groups
-
Status Visualization
-
Saved Views
-
Work Packages
-
Schedule Playback
-
Color Schemes
The VCM provides an open data format, and does not hide the user data in a proprietary database format.
For successful work sharing, you should:
-
At the start of each day or as often as necessary, synchronize your local VCM with the VCM Server. This updates your local copy with data from the SQL Server.
-
In ConstructSim Planner, create/edit work packs and/or User Defined Groups and save your work.
-
At the end of each day or as often as necessary, commit your model edits to the VCM Server.
