Bentley View CONNECT Edition Help

Publish i-model(s) Dialog

Used to convert a design file into an .i.dgn file. All design files that can be opened in Bentley View can be converted into an i-model. Also used to combine (package) the set of published .i.dgn files and its references into a single, protected file. Publishes the master file, each of its displayed references, resulting in a corresponding .i.dgn file for each.

All options that you have selected in the Publish i-model(s) dialog can be saved as an .XML file. You can then open the saved file and use the saved settings.

You can access this dialog from the following:
  • Ribbon: File > Publish i-model
  • Key-in: PUBLISHDGN DIALOG

Create an iModel version Creates an .imodel file that can be used with mobile applications.

The Bentley DgnDb iModel Importer converts DGN V8-format packaged i-models (.i.dgn) into DgnDb-format or BIM-format (.imodel) iModels. The .imodel is compact and optimized for mobile apps.

You can select the desired iModel version from the drop-down list adjacent to this check box. Bentley View installs Bentley DgnDb iModel Importers of version 1.6.x as well as 2.x, by default, which publish 1.6 and 2.0 versions of iModels respectively. If Bentley DgnDb iModel Importer version 1.5.x pre-exists on the machine, then you will also get the option to publish versions 1.5 from the drop-down.

Tip: To learn more about creating .imodels using the Bentley DgnDb iModel Importer or other supported file-formats conversions in batch mode, refer to the help in .pdf file available in its installation directory.

Publish iModel to ProjectWise Share This setting is available only when the following conditions are met:
  • The active WorkSet is assigned a ProjectWise Project.
  • You have access to the ProjectWise Share folder

If on, publishes an i-model to the ProjectWise Share. The file name on ProjectWise Share will be the same as the one on the local drive. If a file with the same name already exists in the ProjectWise Share, it will be overwritten.

Cache Visible Edges for 3D Attachments If on, the references that are set to Dynamic and are valid for being converted to cached are published as Cached. The references that are set to Cached are published as Cached and are reprocessed only if they are out of date.

A reference is considered as valid for being converted to cache, if the following are true:

  • There is a 3D model directly attached to a 2D sheet or a drawing.
  • The reference’s Visible Edges display is set to Dynamic.
  • The Forward, Backward, Cut, or Outside area of the clip volume is displayed.
  • If the Reference Presentation uses either a Hidden Line or Filled Hidden Line based display style.
  • If the Presentation column in the References dialog displays (From Clip Volume Settings) and one of the displayed volumes in the Clip Volume Settings section of Reference Presentation dialog uses either a Hidden Line or Filled Hidden Line based display style.

If off, and if a cache is up to date, it will be published as is. If it is out of date, it is published as Dynamic.

When on, improves the portability and display performance of the published i-models, at the cost of additional publishing time.
