Bentley OpenUtilities CONNECT Edition Help

Using Compatible Unit Rule Builder

Users with configuration privileges can use the Compatible Unit Rule Builder to create and modify unit rules from within Design Assistant. The Design Assistant is only available in Bentley OpenUtilities Designer. It allows unit rules to be created as part of the design process and shared across all users.

The Compatible Unit Rule Builder is opened from the context menu of a Feature in Design Assistant. The tool is only available if the Feature has at least one assigned Compatible Unit.

If the current Design has unsaved changes, the user will be prompted to save the Design.

Rule Builder Dialog

When opened, the Compatible Unit Rule Builder displays a grid showing, vertically, the populated attributes of the Feature and, horizontally, the assigned Compatible Units. A check box indicates whether an attribute will be used within a unit rule for this Compatible Unit.

For each Compatible Unit, the quantity and Class Code to be used for the unit rule should be specified. If a new Class Code is required, the Class Code Editor can be launched from the Compatible Unit Rule Builder. For more on Class Codes, see Pinning Compatible Units to Feature Types in a Job Default.

If the Compatible Unit was assigned to this Feature using an existing unit rule, the attributes used will be checked. Any changes to the unit rule's attributes, quantity, or Class Code will modify the existing unit rule.
