Constructing Designs

Design "construction" refers to the process of representing a job as a set of work locations and then adding, removing, or replacing facilities at those locations. It may also include associating compatible units with particular work locations and facilities. Design construction is carried out in Bentley OpenUtilties Designer's Design Assistant (see Using the Design Assistant).

For detailed information on design construction, see Work Locations. Keep in mind that there is a difference between the process of constructing a layout for a GIS design and that for non-GIS (offline and template) designs. If you are working with a GIS design, refer to Constructing Paths and Work Locations for GIS Designs. With offline and template designs, work locations are created manually; see Constructing Paths and Work Locations for Offline and Template Designs.
