Node-Connected Pipe FlexTable

Creating a New Node-Connected Pipe FlexTable

To create a new Node-Connected Pipe FlexTable, follow these steps:

  1. Open the FlexTable Manager.
  2. Click the New drop-down button and select “Node-Connected Pipe FlexTable”. You can also use the right-click context menu.
  3. Select the node type from the drop-down list. You can select from 7 table types:
    • Gravity Node - this type includes catch basins, manholes, outfalls and transitions.
    • Catch Basin
    • Manhole
    • Transition
    • Outfall
    • Pond Outlet Structure
    • Headwall
  4. Select the fields to include in the table.
  5. Click OK.

Node-Connected Pipe FlexTable Data

The data presented in the Node-Connected Pipe FlexTable is simply an extension of a standard node FlexTable.

In addition to the nodes of the selected type, the connected conduits of each node is displayed in the table.

For each node, the incoming conduits are listed followed by the outgoing conduits from that node. To view the data related to the conduits, include one or more of the following fields:

  • -Pipe- Label
    • This is the label of the conduit. Incoming conduits are prefixed with “(In)” and outgoing conduits are prefixed with “Out”. This does not change the label itself. It is simply shown in the table.
    • When you copy the -Pipe- Label to the clipboard or export to either csv or txt files the prefix is included in the -Pipe- Label field.
  • -Pipe- Conduit Description
    • This shows the conduit description based on the format set in the hydraulic model tab of the options dialog.
  • -Pipe- Rise (Unified)
    • Shows the rise of the conduit. For circular conduits, this is the diameter. For other shapes, this is the rise field, or which rise field applies to that shape. For irregular channels (closed or open), the rise is determined based on the collection data (difference between the maximum elevation and minimum elevation entered).
  • -Pipe- Invert (Start)
    • The invert of the conduit on the start end of the conduit. Considers if the conduit uses the invert of the start node or is user defined.
  • -Pipe- Invert (Stop)
    • The invert of the conduit on the stop end of the conduit. Considers if the conduit uses the invert of the stop node or is user defined.
  • -Pipe- Size (Display)
    • If the conduit references a catalog conduit class and size, this shows the selected size of the class. If the catalog conduit is user defined, shows a blank value.

Limitations of the Node-Connected Pipe FlexTable

This FlexTable has some built-in limitations.

  • Read-Only – The table is read-only. No changes can be made to any fields in the table. Global edit is unavailable for all fields. If you need to make any changes to any fields in the table, you should use other means of editing available in the software.
  • Export – Export to Shapefile is unavailable for this FlexTable. You can still export to either a .csv or .txt file.
  • Paste – Pasting into the table is not available.
  • Sorting/Filtering – You can only sort and filter on node-specific fields. The special conduit fields (prefixed by “-Pipe-“) cannot be sorted or filtered. The incoming and outgoing conduits always follow the respective node in the table no matter what sort or filter settings are applied. When using sort and filter, they are applied only to the nodes of the selected type.
  • Open On Selection – When opening on a selection, the corresponding incoming and/or outgoing conduits are included and shown in the table. If you open on a selection where only conduit rows are selected, their owning nodes will also be included when the table is filtered to that selection.
  • Notifications – The table only reacts to edits made to the fields of the node type selected and it will refresh accordingly. For conduit fields, it watches those related to the size information of the conduit (user defined or catalog conduit reference changes) along with the start and stop inverts. If a conduit uses the start node’s invert and you change the invert of that start node, the appropriate rows in the table will be refreshed.
