Storm Event Wizard - Step 3

Storm Event and Scenario Preview

Step 3 shows you a preview of the storm events and scenarios that will be generated when you complete each step of the wizard.

Each row in the table represents a single storm event and scenario. The depth is calculated by retrieving the intensity at the selected return period and duration from the selected IDF Storm Group on page 1. The depth is calculated by multiplying the intensity by the selected duration in hours.

If you are using the Australia Rainfall and Runoff (2016) workflow, the depth is used to generate a storm event using a fixed-time dimensionless storm event profile. The depth is multiplied by the unitless depth to generate the storm event.

If you are using a typical United Kingdom workflow, the depth and duration are used to generate a storm event using a dimensionless storm event profile. The unitless time is multiplied by the duration and the unitless depth is multiplied by the depth to create the storm event.

If you are using an IDF Storm Group that is not Australia or United Kingdom specific, then storm events are generated based on the selected storm event profile – either fixed-time or dimensionless.

You can also optionally modify the table by adding or deleting rows or modifying existing settings. When you add a new row, select the return period and duration from the provided choice lists. The depth will be calculated automatically. Then select the storm event profile library and storm event profile. You can delete rows by using the delete button or highlight multiple rows using SHIFT and CTRL on the row header.

Note: No scenarios, alternatives, calculation options or storm events have been created yet. This table provides a preview only.

The table does not show any climate change data. If climate change data is used, they are applied during the creation of the scenarios, alternatives, storm events and calculation options.
