Rupture Disks

A rupture disk node is located between two pipes. It is designed to fail when a specified threshold pressure is reached. This creates an opening in the pipe through which flow can exit the system to atmosphere.

If the disk is intact, then this node is represented as a typical Junction. After the threshold pressure is exceeded, it is presumed that the disk has blown off and the liquid rushes out of the newly-created orifice discharging to atmosphere.
