Bentley Fiber

Review

The Review command displays fibers information in a dialog box that relates to sheath previously selected on the map.

Review a Fiber Cross Section

  1. From the Bentley Fiber menu, select XSection > Review.

  2. Select a fiber segment.
  3. The Fiber Review dialog box opens.

    Note: Sheath Information displays the equipment names of either side of the fiber, total fibers, length of fiber and sheath name/number.
    Note: Fiber Information displays fiber ownership, status, optical system name, buffer, color, origin and destination of each fiber.
  4. The Sort by: pull-down menu offers the possibility to sort Fiber Information by Xsection or by Optical System/Job#.
  5. Click Close to exit.

Edit Fiber Status and Ownership

  1. From the Fiber Review dialog box, select a fiber and click Status.
  2. The Edit Fiber Status dialog box opens indicating the status of the selected fiber.

  3. The Fiber Status descriptions are defined in the Fiber Status setup. The following are for example purposes: SP = Spare; RS = Reserved; WK = Working.
  4. If editing ownership or status, select the appropriate button(s), and click Change. To propagate the changed status of the selected fiber to the Headend, select the Ripple Status Change box.
  5. Click Cancel to close the Edit Fiber Status dialog box.

Review Bandwidth

  1. From the Fiber Review dialog box, select a fiber and click Bandwidth.
  2. The Bandwidth Review dialog box opens.

  3. Click Close to close this window.

Customers Review

  1. From the Fiber Review dialog box, select the Customers tab.
  2. The FiberCoax dialog box opens, allowing the User to select Fiber or Coax for the Address type.

If Fiber is selected, the Fiber Customer Review dialog appears:

If Coax is selected, the Coax Customer Review dialog appears:

O/S Review

  1. From the Fiber Review dialog box, select a fiber or group of fibers and choose O/S.
  2. The X-Section O/S Review dialog box opens.

Trace Fiber

  1. From the Fiber Review dialog box, select a fiber and click Trace.
  2. The Fiber Trace Report generates a dialog box showing ISP and CWDM splitter information, starting and terminating points, Buffer and Fiber colors, the length of each sheath, OS name of the fiber, Sequence number and Wavelength. This report can be saved as a *.csv file or as *.txt file, by right clicking on any cell of the Trace Report. (See diagram below.)

    Note: Use the 'Clear Located Devices' command from the Fiber/Copper/ISP-Setup menu to remove trace lines.
    Note: When multiple fibers are selected for a trace report under X Section Review, there will be an individual Fiber Trace Report dialog box that will open for each fiber selected.
  3. Click Cancel to exit.

Review Fiber Sheaths Within a Duct Bank

  1. From the Fiber Review dialog box, select a fiber and click Duct.
  2. The Duct Element Review dialog box opens.

  3. Click Cancel to exit.

Review a Fiber Termination

Note: The Direction button indicates the device name on either side of the viewed segment.
  1. From the Fiber Review dialog box, select a direction and click on Term to display the Node Internals dialog box.

  2. Click Output to print this information to a text file.
  3. Click Cust to display the customers assigned to the selected fiber or click Cancel to close the customer dialog box.
  4. Click Close to exit the Fiber Review or click another Optical System, then click Trace to display a list of devices along the route.
  5. Use the 'Clear Located Devices' command from the Fiber/ Copper/ISP-Setup menu to remove trace lines.
